The fast facts

  • Official URL: imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main — the .gov.my suffix is restricted to Malaysian government entities.
  • Cost: free. Always free.
  • When to file: within 3 days before your arrival in Malaysia.
  • Who is exempt: Singaporean citizens, Malaysians returning home, Brunei and Thailand passport holders entering by land, certain diplomatic passport holders, and transit-only passengers who do not clear immigration. Everyone else must file.
  • What you need: passport (valid 6+ months past arrival), flight details, Malaysia address, email, about 7 minutes.
  • What you get: a confirmation email. You do not strictly need to show a QR on arrival; the system is checked by passport. But keeping the email is smart.
